I have read this post. This is very much true. Even I own a blog account on video conferencing. Video conferencing is indeed a great innovation in technology and communications. One day video conferencing will be like an ordinary house-hold item in the next 5-10 years.I will mention your post in my blog.

A good rule of thumb for any one video conferencing over the internet is place your camera as close to the image you are watching as possible. With my Powerbook, I attahed the camera to the screen and drag my iChat window as right below it. It isn't perfect, but it makes a little difference. Also remember you are "on camera" at all times and put on a good show (smile, nod, keep your fingers away from your nose). As Omar said, it easy to misinterpret actions (or inactions).

That's very perceptive. I had never quite put my finger on it like that before, but it does accurately describe the uneasiness that I experienced with video conferencing (as useful as it is ). I always preferred it when we would meet together with you as a team, in person, rather than the iChat sessions. Good points about making a conscious effort to look into the camera, smile, etc. I need to work on that . It's too easy to let eyec ontact drift off , and as you say, it can be misinterpreted as disinterest or even hostility.
